How to watch

We have changed the "engine" which runs our video streams. This should make for a better viewing experience. Just follow the on-screen prompts to install a "plug-in" for your browser, agreeing to download/install and you should be ready to watch in less than a minute. For now, only Windows XP and Vista are supported.

New basketball floor markings for 2008-09 PDF Print E-mail
By MSHSL.org

Beginning with the 2008-09 basketball season, a new lane-space mark must be applied to the free throw lane.

The new court markings come as a result of a rule revision recently approved by the National Federation Basketball Rules Committee that calls for the two marked lane spaces closest to the end line to be vacant during a free throw. This change moves all players up one space on the free throw lane and requires the addition of a new lane space on each side of the free throw line. The change also means that the lane space closest to
the end line (not the block) is no longer needed.

This basketball court diagram shows the location of the new lane space marks which must be 2 inches wide and 8 inches deep and 3-feet from the mark that’s closest to the free throw line. We prefer that the marks are painted on the floor. However, floor tape is accepted. Please note that it is not necessary to remove the lane space closest to the end line.

Last, but not least, when adding the new lane space markings make sure that the coaching box is properly marked—a hash mark 14-feet from the baseline and a second hash mark 28-feet from the baseline. These markings are also included on the basketball court diagram.
