Food – fish, panfish or walleye Music – anything from the 80s Band – Fleetwood Mac Artists – Warren Zevon (ahoooooooo) TV show – Law and Order (the original) Dan began his radio career at KSCR in Benson, MN, while he was still in high school. A letter winner in football, baseball, and basketball, he was drawn to the sports side of radio in a hurry. His first play-by-play experience was while he was a senior. The sports director at the station was transferred to a sister station in Marshall, and there was a girls’ basketball game that night, which Dan quickly volunteered for. He was hooked.
While attending St. Cloud State, Dan volunteered at the college radio station where he broadcast SCSU football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. Dan’s call of Huskies hockey eventually got him a spot on the television crew doing play-by-play of the games. He also provided on-ice commentary and interviews when the Husky games were picked up by Midwest Sports Channel. Dan has also worked for KKSR in St. Cloud and KASM/KDGG in Albany providing play-by-play for many college and high school events. Along with his radio experiences, Dan is also a high school science teacher currently employed at Chisago Lakes High School in Lindstrom, MN. He has also taught at Sibley East High School in Arlington, MN from 1999 to 2005. Baseball is a very important part of Dan’s life, and is still active with the Chisago Lakes Bulldogs amateur baseball team as a first baseman/designated hitter. He has also played for the Benson Chiefs, Sauk Rapids Cyclones, and Gaylord Islanders -- where he served as manager for three years. |
